The demonstration plot is situated at Encabeni Fresh Produce Market. The Demo plot is Global GAP compliant and it serves as a knowledge transfer tool to local farmers and this knowledge is used by our local farmers on their respective production areas. The demonstration plot is also a model for how much income farmers can expect from their land, as such it is run in the highest profitable manner with profit the main aim of its management.
The Farm Support and Development Unit has a baby vegetable production project. The project supports farmers growing and exporting a variety of baby vegetables to European, South African as well as local market, which is growing rapidly.
Transport for collecting produce from the farm is provided at subsidized rates. A packaging facility conforming to international standards is in place with trained packers. Produce is stored and packed to customer specifications. We also offer technical assistance to baby vegetable farmers through Extension Officers and Quality Assurance Officer, to meet market standards and consumer safety.
NAMBoard has a farm input shop that sells conventional and baby vegetable seeds, bio- chemicals, packaging material and seedlings to farmers. Extension officers assist farmers with the deliveries. The production programme given to farmers guides planting at the nursery.
